Xavier Harris

My name is Xavier Harris, a first-year student at the University of Connecticut, I am Puerto Rican and Jamaican, born in Hartford, I moved to Bristol during middle school and graduated from Bristol Eastern High School before coming to the University of Connecticut.

Although I'm undecided on my major, I'm increasingly drawn to nursing, I've always been passionate about working in a field where I can directly help people and engage in hands-on, work,

When I'm not in class, I'll be working at West Bristol K-8 after school program where I mentor 2nd to 5th graders. Where we help kids with their homework, teach them social skills, but also help me improve in different ways. Such as allowing me to develop leadership skills and speech skills (still not the best at speaking to a group of people but getting better.)

My life is a balance of professional growth and personal interests. I like to go out and play basketball with my friends, I like to go to the gym, spend time with friends and family, watch movies/tv shows, and play video games. One thing I like to do that I wish I could do more of is travel outside of the U.S. I've been to Jamaica and soon going to the Dominican Republic.
